Artist's Comments

Many worries about the future came to me when I realized I don't know what I really want to do for a living. Imagine that you prepared your whole life for something you've just found out it's not what you want as a job. Hard to keep going like this.

I like animation and 3D illustration, and even graphic design, which is the major I'm at, but all these activities hold strong relations with the advertisement business, and this world doesn't entice me very much. This is the problem.

The image above is one atempt to answer my worries: the architectural visualization field! Hence I decided to start modeling more furniture instead of characters, more craft and less flesh. At first I decided to create my kitchen in 3D, but it got boring when I saw that all shapes started repeating themselves and there was little challenge on those objects. I changed my mind, got my little Design of the XXth Century book and created some Art Nouveau meubles to see if I could model them with all those curves and small details ^^

In the end the objects I chose were not that detailed, but it's just the beggining! It's much more entertaining to create organic shapes than innorganic ones!

thats amazing man, you are not alone with your problem:)

I like the various red colors, and the ornamented wall. Beautiful warm feeling.

I also made a stairs scene, but im not finished it yet.

Kudos to you, I am a big fan of Art Nouveau/ Art Deco. Its something you do not see enough in 3d.

Great job with this.

It's hard to get used to the job market when you grew up expecting everything to be wonderful, isn't it? :P But I guess we must accept it and focus on personal projects when we have free time if we want a way of fully expressing ourselves.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by and I'm glad my choice of colors affected somebody else instead of me :)

Yes, I guess we always feel like seeing more pictures with more curvaceous designs in 3D. It's cool :) And it's a lot more amusing to model this kind of thing than almost any other, I can tell you that! I'm planning to do lots of other scenes based on art nouveau furniture, and it's great to see how challenging their shapes can be.
:icondavijc:
Yes, I must agree with you. I regreted a lot when I had the picture finished and edited without smoothing the handrail trellis =/ Well, I ought to be more careful the next time ^^
